Welcome to my webpage. I will update weekly with this week's newsletter link.
Most of my communication will come from Class Dojo, so please make sure
you are connected to our Classroom Dojo!

Just a little bit about me...

I'm a wife and a mom of 2 great kids. My son isn't really a "kid" anymore. He
graduated from college last spring. He may be out of my nest, but I'm still his
mom. The parenting role changes and it's awesome! My daughter will be a
junior in high school, so I still have one at home to keep up with.

After earning a political science degree from EMU, I worked in the sales industry
for 10 years. I realized that my passion was in the training end of sales, and I decided
to pursue my teaching certification from Concordia University
and a master's degree from Eastern Michigan in Curriculum & Instruction.
This will be my 15th year of teaching and I have loved every minute of it!

I am a total History Geek! I will work very hard, this year, to rub some of my love for
history with your child. We will work with many primary sources, artifacts, and delve
into some "hard history". Please check out my Social Studies page for our unit outlines.
I will let you know on Class Dojo when we begin a new unit, so you can check out
what we will be learning about and enrich your family dinner discussions!
My goal is to teach my students to be lifelong learners.
I believe all students can and will learn. We will talk a lot about working harder to become smarter and setting personal goals to stretch our learning. In order to understand how to challenge my students, I work very hard to discover each child's independent learning style and how to cultivate their intrinsic motivation to learn.  I look forward to working with both you and your child this year.
